Day 9 – Winter Wishes

Two things I love about this card – the sunburst effect and the paper!  I’ve used the sunburst a couple of times and love the look of it.  It also gives me the opportunity to use all the pattern paper I have.  The paper I used on this card is from Echo Park’s Winter Wishes collection.  I pretty much like any paper that Echo Park puts out, but this may be my favorite.  I love the blues and purples together.  The ice skates sticker is also from this collection.

Day 8 – Traditional Colors

Today’s card uses traditional Christmas colors.  The tree die, tag die, and background stamp on the tag are from Papertrey Ink.  The red swirly background paper and green polka dot paper is from DCWV’s The Evergreen Stack.

Day 7 – Silent Night

I made this card a couple of years ago and it is still one of my favorites!  It is hard to see, but I stamped the pink layer in a very light brown with a stamp from Papertrey Ink’s Sheet Music stamp set.  I die cut the tree, also from Papertrey ink, stamped it with a curly Q line in pink, then added some pearls.  I used the Tim Holz Paper Distresser to distress the edges of the pink paper, then sponged the edges with a brown ink.   The sentiment was stamped in a dark brown and is from Technique Tuesday’s Good Cheer set.

Day 6 – Nontraditional Christmas Colors

I have card today with non-traditional Christmas colors.  It can also just be a holiday card instead of just a Christmas card. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the green lattice. The chipboard is from My Mind’s Eye.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches’ Christmas Sampler set.

Day 5 – Merry Christmas

I have a quick and easy card for today.  I cut a piece of patterned paper (I’m not sure what collection this is from), tied a ribbon, and stamped Merry Christmas in red.  I used some liquid pearls to “dot” the i in Christmas.

Day 4 – 3×3 card

Today’s card is a 3×3 (inches) card with matching envelope.  I love making these 3×3 cards.  I usually make them in sets and give them out as gifts.  I use the Cricut to cut out the house, but I don’t remember what cartridge I used.  I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut out the envelope.  I love the Cameo. I know that I probably haven’t even used about 20% of what it can do, but I’m slowly learning!Day 4

Hope you are enjoying the series.

I’m not very good at taking pictures, I think a part of it is because I’m lazy.  I think the tips from this series will really help me.

This is a fun one.  I don’t think I could live without music!  This is a list of songs titled “Take me to the Movies”.

Day 3 – Chalkboard Technique

Today’s card uses the chalkboard technique that I’ve seen used a lot over the last few months.  To do this I embossed the sentiment, from My Favorite Thing’s Seasonal Sentiments set, with white embossing powder, and then stamped the same sentiment offset just a bit in white ink.  I also inked the edges with white ink and smeared a little bit of white ink around the sentiment.  The candy cane paper is from Hobby Lobby.

I really like this technique and plan to do some more cards using it.

Day 2 – Merry Christmas

I made this card last weekend and love the way it turned out, plus I got to use more of my patterned paper!

It is a 4×4 card and the paper I used is from Echo Park’s Very Merry Christmas collection.  The sentiment is from Gina K’s The Magic of Christmas stamp set.

Day 1 – Joy to the World

31 Days

It’s Day 1 of the 31 days of blogging challenge.  Read all about it here.

I thought I would start out this challenge with one of my favorites.  I love pattern paper.  I think I have collected enough to last about 5 life times!  The paper I used below is from Doodlebug’s North Pole collection.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s Signature Christmas stamp set.

Day 1

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow!

31 Days of Christmas Cards

So one of my goals for the year was to be a more active blogger, well that hasn’t happened (yet!)  A couple weeks ago, I was having dinner with my sister’s family, and she mentioned she was going to do 31 days of blogging in October.  She said that the topic could be anything and that over 1200 people did it last year.

31 Days is an online writing challenge where we all link up on day one and then write about a topic of our choice every day in October.  After checking out last year’s 31 days of blogging, I decided to give it ago this year!

31 Days

After contemplating for a couple of days, I decided on 31 days of Christmas cards.  Christmas is my favorite holiday to make cards for.  I’ll be blogging about cards I made from past years and some I made just this weekend.

To the left you will see the button I’ve made for this challenge, you will see it on every post relating to the 31 day challenge.  I will also update this page daily with a link to each day.

Here is a link to all the 31 Days participants. My sister’s 31 Days of Classical Education can be found here.  I’ll start the kickoff of 31 days with an “extra” card.  Thanks for stopping by and can’t wait to see what everyone does with this challenge!
