25 Days of Christmas Cards – Day 3

It’s day 3 of my 25 Days of Christmas cards inspired by Kristina Werner.  For today’s card, I was inspired by the card Kristina made in 2010.  I again used a similar layout that she used onbher card.  Here is the link to her video and blog post.

I loved the embossing that Kristina did on the vellum.  I recreated this using a background stamp from Hero Arts.  I did have some difficulties with this card.  For one, I am not good a free form cutting – I need lots of practice with that or just for go it altogether!  My next issue was that I tried to take a short cut and not sandwich the vellum between the card front and card base.  This really needs to be done so that the inside of the card is clean. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Overall, I’m happy with this card and will definitely try the embossing on vellum again (maybe in this series!)  I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 4!

25 Days of Christmas Cards – Day 2

It’s day 2 of my 25 Days of Christmas cards inspired by Kristina Werner.  For today’s card, I was inspired by the card Kristina made in 2011.  I used a similar layout that she used in her card.  Here is the link to the video and blog post.

I used some pattern paper and green glitter paper from my stash.  I colored the cute puppy from the Happy Pawlidays stamp set from My Favorite Things with Copic markers.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 3!

25 Days of Christmas Cards – Day 1

Have you guys been keeping up with Kristina Werner’s Holiday Card series?  She is on her 10th year of this series.  She creates 25 holiday cards with videos.  I’ve watched her for years and love how she describes her process of creating cards.

For the next 25 days, I’m going to show you cards that were inspired by Kristina’s cards.  I went thru the ten years of videos for each day and picked a card that I was inspired by.

For Day 1, I chose the very first card/video that she used in her card series from 2009 – here is a link to Kristina’s video.  I created a card with a similar layout using supplies that I had on hand.  I really like this simple layout and any chance I have to use patterned paper brings me joy!

I hope you will come back for the next 24 days to see how I was inspired to do my own 25 days of Christmas Cards!

Merry Christmas Challenge – October 2018

Its time for the Merry Christmas Challenge for October.  It’s a challenge where you care create anything Christmas (cards, tags, scrapbook layouts, vinyl projects, wreaths, etc.)

For this months card, I only used dies to create this card – no stamps!  I used a few dies from Kat Scrappiness to create this card. I used various solid and pattern paper to cut out the cute stitched snowman and snowflake kisses sentiment.

The challenge is now a monthly instead of weekly challenge.  Be sure to check out the rest of the teams creations on The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and join in on the fun.

2018 National Coffee Day Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  I’m joining in on the 2018 National Coffee Day Blog hop.  Kat Scrappiness is a Super Sponsor for this hop, and has a great sale and prizes available for the hop.

Kat Scrappiness has some great coffee products in the shop.  There is an entire category for coffee in the shop.

The card I create features two coffee themed products from Kat Scrappiness – Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set and the Got Coffee die.

I stamped the awesome “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee” sentiment from the Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set with Versamark ink, covered it in Chestnut embossing powder and heat set it.  On my craft card base, I stamped the three coffee beans, also from the Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set in Versamark ink.

I only used the coffee part of the Got Coffee die and cut it out several times in the same patterned paper that I used for the sentiment.  I matted the sentiment on a piece of sparkly brown glitter paper and added a strip of the same glitter paper on the left side of the card to finish it up.

Use code caren10 to  get 10% off your order at Kat Scrappiness.  Join in on the hop and you can win some great prizes including two $25 gift cards from Kat Scrappiness.

Merry Christmas Challenge for September 2018

I took the summer off from the Merry Christmas Challenge, but I’m back now!  It’s now time to get serious about making Christmas cards!

I seemed to be obsessed with llama lately.  I’ve bought several stamps sets and dies that include llamas over the last month or so!

For this month’s card, I used stamps from Neat and Tangled’s Fa La Llama set.  I colored that cute little llama with my copic markers and heat embossed the sentiment.

The challenge is now a monthly instead of weekly challenge.  Be sure to check out the rest of the teams creations on The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and join in on the fun.

Craftin Desert Divas – Stamped With Care

Today on the Craftin Desert Diva blog, the design team is sharing some ideas for sending cards to show you care.

I created a Fall themed Get Well card that features the Pumpkin Patch digital stamp.  Get Well cards don’t always need to be somber and elegant.  A bright cheerful card or a dose of humor can brighten someone’s day.
The Design Team has been sharing inspiration throughout the week in the Craftin Desert Diva’s Facebook Gallery. Participate and share your cards in the Stamped with Care Album you’ll be entered to win a giveaway valued at $15-$20! Winners will be chosen on Saturday.

Craftin Desert Divas – Shake it Up

Hi everyone!  This weeks Designer Creative Challenge on the Craftin Desert Diva blog is Shake it Up, which means shaker cards!  I absolutely love shaker cards.  They aren’t difficult to make and are so fun.

For my card, I’ve used the tree from the Outdoor Camping digital stamp set.   I colored the digital stamp with Copic markers.  I then made a frame using stitched rectangle dies from my stash.  I couldn’t find a piece of colored or patterned paper that I liked.  So I broke out my Distress Oxide inks and inked up the frame.  I stamped the So Grateful sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set with vesafine ink, covered it with chesnut embossing powder, and heat set it.

Head over to the Craftin Desert Diva blog to see what the design team has created and some create tips for making shaker cards.  One tip I have is to use a powder tool on the edges of the foam adhesive so that shaker bits don’t stick to the adhesive.
