Prismacolor Pencils

I’ve always loved to color and have been wanting to buy some Prismacolor pencils for about a year now, especially after seeing the Gamsol technique.

Instead of using Gamsol or another odorless mineral spirit, I used baby oil. Here are my first attempts at coloring using this technique.

Crazy Oklahoma weather

One predictable thing about living in Oklahoma is the unpredictable weather. This year, we’ve had a blizzard, tornado, record heat, and of course the wind. Tonight we had 80 mph winds where I live. This is the second time my grill has taken a beating. The wind also blew the 12×12 tiles out of my table, luckily only one broke. I do feel lucky because a lot of people in my town do not have power and downed fences.

Here is a pic of my back yard:

St. Louis and Thank you cards

So I’ve been absent from the blog world for a while with good reason, I was on vacation! I went to St. Louis with a couple of friends. We had a great time and worked in a lot of things while we were there. We stopped in Springfield to go through Fantastic Caverns, took in a Cardinals/Cubs game, toured the Anheuser-Busch brewery, went up in the arch, visited Six Flags, and of course there was lots of shopping.

I had my first visit to an Archiver’s store. We do not have these in Oklahoma. I was completely overwhelmed! Here is what I ended up buying – lots of patterned paper (my current obsession) and some Jenni Bowlin butterflys.

I needed a couple of thank you cards for my trip, so I made some with my new goodies. The first card is one I cased from Dawn McVey.

Here is the second card. I’m not a big fan of stickers, but I used them on this card. It turned out cute.

Stamp-a-faire Challenge #10

Congratulations to the winners of the first nine challenges! I decided to go ahead and create a card for the last challenge. This challenge is to add a stamped focal point over a stamped background, all in the same layer. Here is the example from Nichole.

I used the stem and flowers from the Four of a Kind stamp set over a text background.

Thank you

A New Little Someone

Baby cards are so fun to make and lucky for me I have several friends having babies this summer. I made this card for a friend to give to one of her friends having a little girl. I love working with bright colors, pink and turquoise seems to be one of my most used combinations.

I used the New Arrival cartridge for the Cricut to cut out the baby outfit and hanger. I’m not sure if you can tell from the picture but I used a pop dot on the top of the outfit to give it a little dimension.
