Merry Christmas Challenge – October 2018

Its time for the Merry Christmas Challenge for October.  It’s a challenge where you care create anything Christmas (cards, tags, scrapbook layouts, vinyl projects, wreaths, etc.)

For this months card, I only used dies to create this card – no stamps!  I used a few dies from Kat Scrappiness to create this card. I used various solid and pattern paper to cut out the cute stitched snowman and snowflake kisses sentiment.

The challenge is now a monthly instead of weekly challenge.  Be sure to check out the rest of the teams creations on The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and join in on the fun.

2018 National Coffee Day Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  I’m joining in on the 2018 National Coffee Day Blog hop.  Kat Scrappiness is a Super Sponsor for this hop, and has a great sale and prizes available for the hop.

Kat Scrappiness has some great coffee products in the shop.  There is an entire category for coffee in the shop.

The card I create features two coffee themed products from Kat Scrappiness – Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set and the Got Coffee die.

I stamped the awesome “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee” sentiment from the Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set with Versamark ink, covered it in Chestnut embossing powder and heat set it.  On my craft card base, I stamped the three coffee beans, also from the Let’s Get Caffeinated stamp set in Versamark ink.

I only used the coffee part of the Got Coffee die and cut it out several times in the same patterned paper that I used for the sentiment.  I matted the sentiment on a piece of sparkly brown glitter paper and added a strip of the same glitter paper on the left side of the card to finish it up.

Use code caren10 to  get 10% off your order at Kat Scrappiness.  Join in on the hop and you can win some great prizes including two $25 gift cards from Kat Scrappiness.

Merry Christmas Challenge for September 2018

I took the summer off from the Merry Christmas Challenge, but I’m back now!  It’s now time to get serious about making Christmas cards!

I seemed to be obsessed with llama lately.  I’ve bought several stamps sets and dies that include llamas over the last month or so!

For this month’s card, I used stamps from Neat and Tangled’s Fa La Llama set.  I colored that cute little llama with my copic markers and heat embossed the sentiment.

The challenge is now a monthly instead of weekly challenge.  Be sure to check out the rest of the teams creations on The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and join in on the fun.

Craftin Desert Divas – Stamped With Care

Today on the Craftin Desert Diva blog, the design team is sharing some ideas for sending cards to show you care.

I created a Fall themed Get Well card that features the Pumpkin Patch digital stamp.  Get Well cards don’t always need to be somber and elegant.  A bright cheerful card or a dose of humor can brighten someone’s day.
The Design Team has been sharing inspiration throughout the week in the Craftin Desert Diva’s Facebook Gallery. Participate and share your cards in the Stamped with Care Album you’ll be entered to win a giveaway valued at $15-$20! Winners will be chosen on Saturday.

Craftin Desert Divas – Shake it Up

Hi everyone!  This weeks Designer Creative Challenge on the Craftin Desert Diva blog is Shake it Up, which means shaker cards!  I absolutely love shaker cards.  They aren’t difficult to make and are so fun.

For my card, I’ve used the tree from the Outdoor Camping digital stamp set.   I colored the digital stamp with Copic markers.  I then made a frame using stitched rectangle dies from my stash.  I couldn’t find a piece of colored or patterned paper that I liked.  So I broke out my Distress Oxide inks and inked up the frame.  I stamped the So Grateful sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set with vesafine ink, covered it with chesnut embossing powder, and heat set it.

Head over to the Craftin Desert Diva blog to see what the design team has created and some create tips for making shaker cards.  One tip I have is to use a powder tool on the edges of the foam adhesive so that shaker bits don’t stick to the adhesive.

Craftin Desert Divas – Smiles Across the Miles Creative Challenge

Hi everyone!  This weeks Designer Creative Challenge on the Craftin Desert Diva blog is Smiles Across the Miles.  Besides major holidays and celebrations, one big reason to send cards is to let those we love know that we’re thinking of them.  In today’s digital age, a handmade card is still one of the best gifts you can receive.  So this week, the Craftin Desert Diva design team will be sharing inspiration for cards that would make anyone smile.

For my card, I’ve used the Oh My Llama digital stamp.  Recently, I’ve been obsessed with llama stamps!  They are too cute.  I colored the digital with Copic markers.  Stamped the Just Because sentiment from the Say it Big stamp set with vesafine ink, covered it with clear embossing powder, and heat set it.

One thing I do each at the beginning of each month is to make a list of a few people to send cards to for that month.  This reminds me to not only make cards (which I really don’t need a reminder for!), but to also send out cards.  Nothing is better than receiving a card Just Because!

Winnie and Walter Leading Lady Week 4 – One Layer Cards with Masking

Hi everyone!  It’s my final week  of my Leading Lady reign at Winnie and Walter.  I want to give a big thanks to Shay for giving me this opportunity and all who have left such encouraging comments on each post.

I’ve saved my favorites for this week!  I created two one layer cards (this was difficult for me) with lots of masking and Copic coloring.  At the beginning of June, I owned one Copic marker with no intention of buying anymore.  Then I took a Copic class, only because a friend of mine was teaching it.  Needless to say, I now own quite a few Copic markers.  I still have so much to learn on how to use these, but I’m super happy on how these turned out.

For my first card, I stamped several of the dogs from the Dog-gone Cute with Evelin T Designs stamp set.   I did some masking to get the dogs all lined up.  I then painstakingly colored them with Copic markers.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs to finish the card.

For the second card, I did the exact same thing except with cats from the Purrfect with Evilen T Designs stamp set.

For each card, I first stamped out how I wanted them laid out on a scrap piece of paper (top of the photo below).

Then I started stamping and masking!  When masking, you want to stamp the ones you want in the foreground first.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a Leading Lady and working with such wonderful products at Winnie and Walter.  Thanks again for the love the past three weeks.  Leave a comment on this post by 8/4 for a chance to win a $30 gift card from Winnie and Walter.  I will draw a random winner on 8/4 and contact the winner by email.
